Brief History
The Susquehanna Valley chapter was not always as large as it is today. In 1997 the Lancaster County Red Cross merged with the Capital Region Red Cross. Not long after, Mifflin and Juniata Counties were added to the service area to form what is known as the Susquehanna Valley Chapter. (York, Lebanon, Middletown and West Cumberland areas continue to run separate respective chapters.) The merger allowed the local chapter to expand its services and cut staff expenses by maximizing efficiency in accounting and management practices.
