Getting Started

American Red Cross volunteers are making a difference right now. The local Red Cross thrives in the Susquehanna Valley because of its volunteers. These wonderful individuals donate their time to be on the front lines providing Red Cross services to those in need, work behind the scenes to coordinate programs to assure things run smoothly and efficiently in the offices.

Helping others feels good, and helping you feel good about yourself, the American Red Cross of the Susquehanna Valley will work with you to provide rewarding experiences--opportunities to utilize your talents and training to help you serve the community. The local Red Cross strives to match your interests with its volunteer needs so your experiences are most gratifying. Once you decide to volunteer, you are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation which will give you an overview of the American Red Cross and a closer look at each existing volunteer opportunity. After choosing a specific area in which you would like to serve, the volunteer specialist will put you in contact with the person who oversees that specific area of service. Any training that is needed to fulfill your volunteer opportunities is free.

Completion of volunteer orientation is required before individuals are eligible to volunteer for the American Red Cross of the SusquehannaValley.
