Public Awareness Events (PAEs)

Speakers Bureau

Want to learn more about the Red Cross in your community? Schedule a speaker to come to your group, workplace or meeting. Several topics are available, some of the most popular being:

  What we do in the community, and history of the organization.

  Five steps you can take to make your family safer and your community
  a better place to live.
• Til Help Arrives
  A First Aid and CPR overview.
• Seasonal Safety Tips
  Recognize conditions that require special attention, i.e. winter storm warnings, heatwaves, water safety and much more.

  Ask to hear about a current Red Cross project or learn about a specific
  Red Cross program.

Animal Assisted Therapy

Local Red Cross volunteers and their pets are trained to bring joy and cheer to residents in area nursing homes and retirement facilities. Seniors enjoy friendly dogs, cats and bunnies. Often, this program increases seniors' communication and motor skills, and gives them something to look forward to each week or month.

VITA - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

VITA volunteers offer free tax assistance by filing Form 1040EZ, Form 1040A or a basic Form 1040 Federal Tax return for elderly citizens, individuals with low incomes and those with disabilities. They also alert tax-payers of special credits and deductions for which they may be eligible.
