YOUTH SERVICES OPPORTUNITIES
The American
Red Cross is looking for young people to become tomorrow’s leaders.
The American Red Cross is committed to developing leadership skills in
young people. We recognize that you will be the one to lead the organization,
the projects and the programs in the future—not just in the Red
Cross but throughout the community. The more training and opportunities
you have today, the better you will be tomorrow. The Susquehanna Valley
Chapter offers four programs in leadership skills training:
| Youth
Council |
Youth
Council consists of youth volunteers who meet on a monthly basis
to plan service projects in their community which they implement
throughout the rest of the month. Youth take active roles in organizing
and leading each service project or choosing the issues they wish
to learn more about through a speaker or other field trip. We encourage
representatives from other youth or Red Cross clubs to attend the
meetings to share their ideas or join in our events.
Volunteer Schedule:
Meets once a month, plus projects
Hours Required:
Meetings are 1.5 hours, plus hours for projects
Minimum Age:

| Red
Cross Clubs |
Clubs
focus on the seven principles of the International Red Cross Movement:
humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service,
unity and universality. Schools, churches and civic organizations
can sponsor clubs at their facilities. It’s the ideas and
talent of youth that make it happen!
